Career Services

Saint Louis University Career Services helps students and alumni map their dreams, construct a plan and embark on a journey to career success.

We are here to help you begin a process of self-exploration that can help you better make decisions about majors and careers. Our career counselors can coach you on your job search, help you find internships and assist with applications to graduate school. We also hold career fairs attended by hundreds of employers and provide you access to useful tools like skills and interest assessments, on-campus interviewing practice, resume building workshops and more.

You will be asked for basic information such as your major, if you’ve decided upon one, and what assistance you need.

For brief, specific questions related to resumes, cover letters or your job search, we offer walk-in hours Monday through Friday, 1 to 2 p.m. These meetings usually last 10 to 15 minutes.

Services

Whether you’ve just arrived on campus as a freshman or are about to order your cap and gown, career services offers you a welcoming place to talk about your major choice and career decisions. And even after graduation, we’re here for you because our services are free to alumni.

Career Counseling

Career counseling is a process that allows you to explore, discover and connect to career or major options through collaborative one-on-one meetings with a career development specialist.

These meetings can help you clarify your career or major path, identify career goals and provide support and guidance during your job search or graduate school application process.

Prior to your counseling appointment, review our four-year career development plan.

Job Search Assistance

Career Development Specialists are available to assist you in your plans for the future, and all of the steps along the way. Make an appointment to meet with a career development specialist six to 12 months prior to graduation to create your plan of action:

  •  Develop a resume and cover letter
  • Create a job search plan
  • Participate in a mock interview
  • Learn salary negotiation skills and other job search techniques

You can also learn how to access reciprocal career services available from other colleges and universities located in parts of the country where you are interested in finding a job.
